| My understandings regarding this Reading Specialist standard: This is really the nuts and bolts of the position of Reading Specialists in public schools today. They are responsible for working with those learners with varying levels of abilities and through small group or individual instruction, able to increase comprehension, fluency, and the entire continuum of reading difficulties, and other areas of growth of learners in the school setting. This is also important for intervention of learners who might be at risk of dropping out of school or failure in a grade. Unfortunately, many Reading Specialists have become TAKS tutors. |
