| My Understandings Regarding This Reading Specialist Standard The Reading Specialist is responsible for remaining current on research-based instruction, and application of these ideals in regards to instructional strategies with learners. This also means that while doing these tasks that the pressure to teach in a fashion that is anything less than developmentally appropriate, is not upheld or supported. Literacy instruction is not a canned program that is spit out year after year without regard to the learner. Literacy instruction is a fluid and integrated use of all that is available to the Reading Specialist to help reach the learner and engage them. It means remaining true to yourself and your pedagogy for the good of the learners. |
