After staying in Cusco for a couple of days we headed off to do the Inca trail. The first picture is me trying to pick the padlock Vic had lent me - mysteriously it had changed combinations! We travelled up to the trailhead in a small minivan, the porters transport wasn't quite so nice. When we got to the trailhead at Km82 it was fairly chaotic.

Vic was well up for a bit of walking, but after a few hills he wasn't quite so sure! It wasn't long before a break was required...

The scenery along the walk was well worth the effort. Here's a couple of shots of the rivers and streams, and also the first ruins we saw.

Day 2 of the trek was long. After climbing for an hour at the end of day 1 we had camped in a small clearing in the forest. The following day was a 4 hour continuous climb up towards Dead Woman's Pass. We stopped for a photo halfway up, you can get an idea of the view...
