| The D'Deridex is more commonly refered to as a Warbird. They are used as the bulk of the Romulan fleet and are usually used as warships. |
| History It is unknown exactly when the D'Deridex class warbird came into service, but it was probably after the Tomed Incident in 2311. During this time the Romulans stayed to themselves for the most part to develop their technology. There were several incidents however where these massive ships were used to attack Klingon colonies, most notably Khitomer and Narendra III. In 2364 the first official Federation sighting of the warbird took place while the Enterprise-D was investigating the destruction of several colonies along the Neutral Zone. For several years after this the Romulans were nearly at war with the Federation until the emergence of the Dominion threat. The Tal'Shiar launched a fleet of warbirds along with a Cardassian fleet to destroy the Dominion homeworld. The atack failed, thus causing both fleets the become much weaker. Later on during the Dominion War the Romulans used many of these warbirds to aide the Klingon and Federation fleet. |
