| Cry Me A River - By Daisy |
| "Bre, we need to talk." Kevin said over the phone to his best friend Breanne Moore. He usually called her whenever he was having problems with his girlfriend Rachel. "Is it okay that I come over for a bit?" He asked. His voice was soft and fearful. He was holding back tears. Breanne insisted Kevin come to her place and hung up the phone. She sighed, and waited for Kevin to arrive. She sat in her living room, staring out the window wondering why she continued to let herself be a glutton for punishment. She has been friends with Kevin for the past seven years. When she first moved from Miami, Florida to Los Angeles as a dancer, Kevin was one of the first people to ever talk to her in the city. Soon after she became one of the Backstreet dancers, and went on a few tours with Kevin and his band mates. But they still managed to keep a friendship and balance their professional connection. Yet throughout the years, she started to grow feelings for him romantically. Kevin was one of the few genuine men in ,her life, and he has taught her to have faith in other men. But she decided to keep her personal feelings for him to herself, because she did not want to jeopardize her friendship with him. Plus Kevin was always involved with other women. Women that were not good enough for him--Breanne would always say. She felt Kevin's taste in women was horrible. He always dated disgustingly beautiful women, but none of them had depth. They seemed inconsequential somehow. Then Kevin met Rachel, another disgustingly beautiful blonde, but with a little more depth that the others. Apparently it was enough for Kevin to spend two years with her. Breanne didn't have anything against Rachel at first. She was a beautiful woman that had ambitions, and seemed to make Kevin happy. Soon afterwards Breanne started to notice the relationship going sour. Kevin would say Rachel was being strangely detached. She was always working, and then she stopped spending as much time with him. Kevin was busy too, but he always managed to make time for Rachel. Rachel also started analyzing Kevin's lifestyle. She loved the fact that he was an entertainer, but she was also insecure about him being faithful. But her insecurities disappeared, but soon after Kevin started getting insecurities of his own. Breanne provided support for Kevin. She was always a good listener, and gave him advice to keep his relationship with Rachel together, despite her strong feelings for him. She figured she rather be an adult and a great friend than be vindictive and go out of her way to be selfish. Yet sometimes it broke her heart to see Kevin spending time with Rachel. She could feel that he felt empty somehow, but tried to tell herself that maybe it was a pitiful hope that one day Kevin would notice her. "God I wish he would hurry up!" Breanne huffed. She groaned to herself right before she heard a panicked knock on the door. Breanne rushed to the door to see Kevin standing there with ruffled clothes and hair to match. Breanne noticed the sadness in his eyes. "Oh Kevy Kev. What happened sweetie?" Breanne asked him. Kevin walked inside and into the living room. He flopped down on the couch, with his head down. Breanne sat next to him and rubbed his back gently. They sat there silently for a few seconds, and Breanne noticed Kevin's back tense up. "Oh honey! What happened?" Breanne asked. Kevin then lifted his head up, and glanced at Breanne. He noticed she had her light brown hair in pigtails. He chuckled to himself. Breanne smiled, and asked him again what was wrong. "I think Rachel is seeing someone else behind my back." Kevin said. There was a certain sadness in his voice, almost like his heart was breaking. "I know I've had doubts before, but now I just have this strange feeling." "Well how can you be so sure? I mean do you have solid evidence?" Breanne asked. She didn't want to jump to any conclusions. Breanne always gave everyone the benefit of the doubt. "I mean you've thought this before, and you've brushed it off." "I know I've brushed it off, but I just got this feeling. You see she left her cell phone at the house, and it rang. So I answered it, and it was this guy who didn't tell me who he was, but just hung up the fucking phone." "Oh! Well....maybe it was the wrong number. You never know." Breanne said. She sounded really unsure, but managed to sound discreet. "Don't jump to conclusions on one call." Breanne then smiled, and looked at Kevin. "Maybe his battery was low. Maybe he was going to a place nearby..." She started to say right before Kevin started to laugh. "Very funny Bre. But seriously, there's more to it. She's been more distant that ever. She doesn't have time to go out to dinner or lunch. She always rushes out the house without kissing me goodbye or even a hug. I didn't see her at night for a whole week. And to top it off, the last time we were making love she called me someone else's name." Kevin said trying to fight back all his anger. "Now if that isn't enough evidence. I don't know what is." Kevin's head then went back down and he sighed. "And to think, she thought I was the deceitful one." Breanne lifted Kevin's head back up and hugged him. She knew his heart was breaking into a million pieces. "Well she totally took you for granted Kev. You're truly a loyal, sincere, and honest guy. It's her lose that she wants to fuck everything up. You deserve so much better." She said. Kevin sighed, and remained quiet. After a few minutes, they finally decided to walk into the kitchen and grabbed two cases of Corona and some lemon juice out of the refrigerator. Breanne and Kevin then went outside on Breanne's patio, and sat underneath the stars. |
