East Coast
The east coast of Taiwan is scenic, rocky, and a lot less crowded than most of the rest of the island.
Although most of the coast is rocky, there are several beaches that are OK for swimming.
The entire stretch of coastline from Taitung to Suau is beautiful, and makes a great drive. Bicycling is also an option, as there are several long stretches of dedicated bicycle paths along this route.
The air quality in the east is considerably better than most of Taiwan. Since moving here from Chia-yi, I no longer cough up large unidentifiable black things from my lungs.
So, if you are a city dweller in Taiwan, anywhere down along the East Coast would be a welcome break from the smog of the big cities... |
