April 18 - Critter barriers around the garden. Sand for slugs, diatomaceous earth for crawling insects, mothballs and Squirrel Chaser bag for mammals, and invisible barrier of Liquid Fence for the same. One squirrel didn't care though.
April 28 - Pumpkin plants with "U" hooks to help direct them.
May 3 - Bamboo skewers and "U" hooks to help plants lean and grow in the right directions.
May 14 - One plant totally leaning. Skewers and "U" hooks also help secure plants against wind.
May 14 - View of all plants. The two original plants that proved the best are close together, oh well. The two smaller ones are backups after the other original seeds didn't do well.
May 22 - V1, V2, and V3 (behind V2 near upper left).
May 30 and June 1 - Atlantic Giant male flower bud and blossom.
June 22 - Panoramic view of the patch.
July 12 - Pictures of a blooming female flower and a view of its pistil.
July 12 - Two honeybees (one flying) in a male flower. In the female flower, two honeybees and two sweat bees.
July 16 - Panoramic view of the patch. An example of what happens with six weeks of no rain and 100F temperatures.
July 16 - The rest of the patch. Note the smaller V3 to the left leaning over for lack of secondary roots and tendrils.
Note: Due to extreme heat and drought, this season ended as a complete loss.
