The book published
by Virgin Books Limited has relatively large print and is easy to read
without your glasses. It is written in the first person and gives an
insight into Richard Branson’s thinking.
The story of his
actions and how he made decisions was fascinating. He pays tribute to
his mother who challenged him from a young age. His mother instilled in
him, the word, can’t, was seen as a means of overcoming obstacles and
reminded me of my own mother’s words to me “Its not, I can’t and I
won’t, but it is, I can and I will.”
Some of the
adventures that he has undertaken seemed to me to be highly risky and
fool hardy. However, recalling when hearing of the feats that he
accomplished, admired his tenacity for going through with them. His
future adventure of taking passengers into space, when it succeeds, will
attract those who have always seen space as the next frontier.
In the book Richard
explained his thinking and how he had made various decisions in his
life. His ambitions and daring stems from the challenges that his mother
set him as a child.
As the title of the book states his philosophy is “to do it” and enjoys
the freedom of being his own boss and able to make quick considered
decisions himself. This was one of the reasons he reverted his company
from a public company back to a private one.
He risked all to set up and operate his airline business.
Reading the book will give you an insight into how he operates and
manages, overcoming numerous obstacles put in his way. Having faith in
self is his main principle.
The tips that are
given in the book are well worth reading and may already be a part of
your upbringing. The time and investment spent in reading this book will
broaden your horizons and give you food for thought as to how to
challenge yourself above your normal comfort zone.
This is a great
book to help you believe in yourself.
