How To Become A Marketing Superstar

Unexpected Rules That Ring the Cash Register

By Jeffery J Fox

172 Pages ISBN 0786868244 Published 2003 Hyperion

Read 12th August 2006 two hours approximately

Marketing is different from sales and to gain an understanding of the subject have recently attended a course.  How to become a marketing superstar is well written and easy to understand. The phase “Ka-ching, Ka-ching!” that he uses rang some bells for me.

The advice given includes; customers fire employees every day, must knows, bad words, sell with numbers, be your own customer, loss leaders are for losers, shrink to grow, dollarization and always sell consequences.

Some of the advice given is thought provoking and takes you through the better ways to market. He uses American examples and case studies to illustrate his points.

Chapter twenty three discusses not putting phone numbers on trucks. Mr. Fox considers this to be a mistake and recommends you putting your brand and advertising line instead. Phone numbers on vehicles have been useful to me. This has occurred when stationary, however when in transit can’t usually remember the numbers. His point is therefore valid. Web addresses are also helpful, providing they are memorable, allowing you to follow up at a later time.

The read will broaden your perception about marketing. You will gain some very helpful tips and ideas. Well worth investing your time and money in reading Mr. Fox’s book. It is one of a series and hopefully you will find this as interesting as I have.
