What is Goth?

In 1996 I created a web site asking that question. Thousands of visitors responded to my questionnaire and their answers were, in my opinion, quite interesting.

The overall conclusion was:

Goth is a lifestyle and a way of thinking.

It's not all about wearing black and talking about death. That is simply one outward manifestation of the mindset that defines gothic thinkers.		 They are dark but they are not evil or wicked - unless you want them to be.

The Goth lifestyle experienced by many people around the world seems to testify of the need, at least for some of us, to delve into hidden sides of the psyche. Rather than turning away from light, the children of Goth eagerly embrace the full spectrum including the darker sides of emotion.
