Creating your NeoPet

OK, so you decided you want to give NeoPets a go, well the first thing you have to do is create a NeoPet.

This can be harder then it looks - I mean you have about 30 different species to chose from, do you go for the Fierce Lupe, or the Cuddly Poogle, maybe the Knowledgeable Lenny?
What a choice!

Make sure you look through all the available Pet Types, if you click on the picture of the Pet you will get a small pop-up window giving you some details of the Pets Species. Be aware that some Pets you wont be able to choose, as they are limited edition (that means that there are only so many allowed in the game - however there are ways of getting a limited edition pet!).

Once you have chosen the Species, you need to pick a Name, a gender, a colour and some personality traits for your Pet - will he spend his time hunting for food, or making friends, you have a few choices here!

Next step is to get some Stats for your Pet - how strong they are, how fast and a few others. You get to re-roll these stats 5 times only. After the 5th role you have to accept those values - so think carefully after each roll!

Once all that is done your Pet will be born and you will be ready to start exploring Neopia!

You can have a total of 4 Pets at any one time - also if you want another Pet, but don't want to create one, you can always check out the Neopian Pound (or Adoption Centre) for a poor unwanted Pet - you never know you might see the Pet of your Dreams! Most of the Pets in the pound tend to be older and wiser, they may even already have special abilities or have advanced a few levels! (also some limited edition Pets can be found in the pound).

Once you have created (or adopted) your first Pet, I suggest you do the quick and simple NeoPets Tutorial as this will give you a very good understanding of the whole site! This can be found by going to the NeoPets Help Page. (Follow the link or click on help in the yellow navigation bar in the NeoPets site - not mine silly!).

Other things I would recommend doing once you start are Opening a Bank Account. Putting all of your items into your Safety Deposit Box, then going back the the "Your Items" page - this will generate a Newbie Welcome Pack, as you are new to the game and are holding no items. Then go play games! :)
