The Birds

Watching birds has been a past-time since childhood. I used to collect sparrow fledglings that had fallen out of nests in pine trees, during a windy day in Shillong, Meghalaya.

But the variety of birds in Goa is mind-boggling. Did you know that Goa has the Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary? - this is amidst the mangroves! In a while I should be able to add a section of good bird-watching places.

I've tried to be systematic with the birds I've observed - hopefully the links will work out the way they should. The same sequence of families of birds as Salim Ali has in his centenary edition of The Book of Indian Birds has been used. This is apparently undergoing change.

The birds that I've spotted in Zuarinagar have an * next them. They have been seen elsewhere as well.
