a poem, by Adrian
Gould
What is it that I do?
Am I wrong by holding this man?
I'm loving someone with all of me.
I'm giving to him everything.
Yes, there are days,
That we both wish never came.
Yet, those are the days that
make us stronger in our resolution
to live as one, by
holding the man.
What is it that I do?
Am I lost by holding the man?
The man who gives me love
in a human form, so complete
so trusting, so new.
He's my human form of Him above,
the embodiment of my love
for Him above.
Yes, I'm holding a man.
What is it that I do?
Am I crazy, to be holding the man?
Or is it a case of unknown reality
that stood staring me in the face?
Until I came to my senses
came out to those I love
Put myself through hatred
and through love.
For I am holding the man.
What is it that I do?
To be crying these tears, because
I am holding a man?
It's not wrong to show the
emotions that you were given,
just stronger to share them
despite the ridicule that you can face.
All because,
I'm holding the man.
The man of my love,
The man of my life,
The man of my heart,
The man, given by God above.
I'm holding The Man
And it's love I feel.
Love from here on earth,
and from heaven above.
Ady Gould, 5th February 1997.
inspired by the cover and title of the book
"Holding the Man" by the late Timothy Conigrave.
A tremendously moving, warming, and special book.
