Sport
I
am a keen hockey player (the field variety).
I am currently playing as an A-Grade goalkeeper with the CBC
Hockey Club in the Goldfields of Western Australia.
In
the ten years of completed seasons, I have played in grand
finals in 1990 (B-Grade), 91 (A-Grade), 92, 95, 96, 98, and
99.
|
 |

1999 Grand Final |
During
the 1997 season, I took no playing part in the competition
due to being in the UK until almost the end of the season.
It
was my pleasure to be at the grand final on Sunday 21st September
to watch CBC, my current club, and the club Ihad won 2 A-Grade
championship titles with, win their third consecutive title.
|

1999 Grand Final |
In
1998 we played Pegasus again (for the fourth year in a row)
for the A-Grade championship title. The game was drawn at
half and full time (2-2, 3-3) and went to extra time. The
score was locked still after 10 minutes each way, and then
after the 5 minutes each way of double extra time.
The
championship was decided on penalty strokes. We scored first,
then Pegasus missed. We scored the second stroke, putting
us 5-3 ahead. Pegasus missed their second attempt. We missed
our third stroke, and then Pegasus scored to make it 5-4.
We scored the next one, ans I saved the stroke with my stick
and the goalpost (6-4). We missed our last stroke, and I saved
the next one on my chest. We won 6-4. Possibly the nastiest
grand final (from a goalie's point of view) I've played in.

1998 Grand Final
 |
Last
year, 1999. CBC took the bull by the horn and went for it. We
were top of the table after the 1st round and played Pegasus
in the Challenge Cup. We won this, for the first time in many
years. We held the position at top of table, losign jsut two
games out of twenty, and with 2 draws.

1998 Grand Final
|
My
goals against was a little under 1, I cannot remember exactly.
We were minor premiers, and went into the finals series as red
hot favourites. We beat Pegasus in the Semi final and went straight
to the final. Norths beat Pegasus in the preliminary final,
and then we played them in the grand final.

approx 1996 |
During
the grand final in September 1999, Peter B lost the end of his
finger about 5 minutes into the second half with the scores
at 0-0. With Gavin E moving into defense, we then blitzed to
win 4-0. Five championships in a row, and for the first time
in what I think is at least 10 years, the triple crown (Challege
Cup, Minor Premiers, and Premiers) was completed.

In
the previous years I played for Mines (B Grade 1990, A Grade
91), YMCA (A Grade 1992-1993), and now for CBC as their A Grade
keeper since 1994. I won A-Grade titles with YMCA in 1992, and
CBC in 1995 and 1996.

approx 1996
|
I
have also played indoor hockey, waterpolo, and soccer in my
time. Each as the goalkeeper.
|

1998 Grand Final |
In
1992, for indoor hockey I had the pleasure of being the Eastern
Goldfields B-Grade team's goalie for the West Australian Country
Championships. We won the title. |

1999 Grand Final |
I
have also been the B-Grade goalie for field hockey for the Eastern
Goldfields, and we took away the Championship Trophy for this
grade in an exciting grand final.
|

1999 Grand Final Team |
I
captained a grand final winning OddBalls team in the Goldfields
Water Polo Association competition in 1991-1992. It was commented
that this game was one of the best that anyone had seen in many
years for its excitement and high standard of play. (If
I remember correctly the quarterly scores were: 4-4, 5-4, 6-7,
9-8.)

1998 Grand Final |
I
have also dinghy sailed, and love cycling to and from work.
I also cycle to hockey training as part of my warm up routine.
