This
is an excellent piece of music that will move many people.
It
contains dynamic unaccompanied pieces with quirky comedy. There are Blues
and praise combined in an album that is dynamic and exciting.
"I
come from good people" sings of the love and rejection that follows
the coming out process. It hit home with me, as my coming
out to my parents was not a smooth one.
The
piece "O Disturbing Boy" is sung unaccompanied. The majority
of the piece (all 2 minutes of it) is sung in unison with a tremendous
dischord / harmony finish that raised the hairs on my neck, and brought
tears to my eyes.
"Dance
on your grave" evokes the feelings that surround a person's life
when someone they know, and love, dies. The soloist sings
"I will not mourn you, nor will I curse the day you
were born" as the stoic face of a strong man is put on, despite what
he is feeling. He has refused to mourn, and insists on dancing on the
grave. Dancing like a man.
I
am always lifted by the piece "Marry Us." It's lilting churchyard
harmonies sing of the wish for people who want to be joined together.
"Never
ever" brings the thoughts that a moment in love should be cherished
like a gift. It tells of the first time and the last time,
and how each should be nurtured. The piece also talks of the fact that
people come and go, and so we should take each of them as we can, and
love them.
