THE BEARS

These bears have come into our lives
to teach us about love.
If we look at them closely,
we will learn everything
we need to be happy:

See how and peaceful the bears look?
That's because they are leaning against one another.
Back to back they sit,
supported by each other's strength,
comforted by each other's presence,
Yet still free to look off in their own direction
dreaming their own dreams,
gazing at their own horizons,
And all the while their companion is near.

Their posture calls for
complete commitment to one another,
Yet that commitment only allows each of them
to do what, alone, they could not comfortably do.

When I see the bears, I see the truth
about what love and commitment really mean.
When I see the bears,
I see the true essence of our relationship.

Lean against me my beloved,
as I lean on you.
I will be your strength and your comfort.
I will support you, with love and friendship,
as you gaze off in your own special direction,
dreaming your dreams.

Lean against me and feel how our love
only strengthens your own freedom
to be the best that you can be.

Know that I am here,
always behind you,
your lover, your companion,
your family, your soul's true friend.
