It is the intent of the pool of trainors of KAAKBAY - who had previously climbed Mt. Matutum to climb Mt. Apo and hold a "torch-lighting ceremony" at the peak to symbolize that the torch of freedom and peace shall soon be spread to the whole of the youth of Mindanao. This shall also serve as an environmental-preservation activity, where the members of KAAKBAY shall conduct a tree-counting and clean-up drive.

       If Mt. Matutum is to SOCSKSARGEN area, Mt. Apo is to Mindanao. Thus, if the torch-lighting ceremony for peace at the summit of Mt. Matutum manifests spreading a Culture of Peace in the SCOSKSARGEN area, doing the same at the zenith of Mt. Apo will manifest spreading a Culture of Peace in the whole of Mindanao.

       At a first glance, mountain-climbing activity may be misconstrued as dispensable. However, if it is to be studied further, it would be realized that behind the torch-lighting ceremonies at the peak of the two mountains is the solemnity of the Tri-People group members and their noble intent in spreading the elusive Culture of Peace in the whole of Mindanao. Such an activity may even encourage all mountaineers in spreading the Culture of Peace that we all long for, seek and deserve.
