SCORES: Contemporary sight-singing series, original compositions, arrangements, transcriptions, settings | |||||||||||
| Prof. JOAN YAKKEY presently conducts six treble-voice choral ensembles in Florence, Italy; a vast repertory is essential to renew the singer's interest and to satisfy demands for concert programming. Joan writes sight-singing albums, settings of folksongs and Spirituals, arranges famous repertory in the public domain for SSA voices, composes original scores and transcribes early vocal music in modern performance editions for female voices. Many of her personal SSA editions have been performed by the NY HARLEM ACADEMY GIRLS CHOIR WESTERN NY CHORALE WOMENS CHOIR OF FLORIDA INT'L UNIVERSITY KENT STATE CHORALE MUSIC CONSERVATORY OF FLORENCE, ITALY SCHOOL OF MUSIC OF FIESOLE SARASOTA OPERA THEATER Joan is very happy to share her scores with others. A LIST OF TREBLE WORKS AND ARRANGEMENTS IS AVAILABLE by writing to Joan [email protected] Being professor at the Italian State Music Conservatory allows Joan full access to libraries where she researches old manuscripts and editions of unknown polyphony and monody that she transcribes and adapts for her own singing groups and for publication. Her research from several old editions of Monteverdi's Canzonettes and Sacrae Cantiunculae led to a CD recording with the Barbara Strozzi Vocal Ensemble; four Canzonettes have recently been published by Treble Clef Music Press, USA. Many of her original compositions for Children's choirs have received prizes and are published with the Tolosa Choral Music Competitions (Spain). Unfortunately many publications are not distributed worldwide, so the opportunity of using the web to reach interested parties is a wonderful opportunity.
