Joan Yakkey directs five choirs in Florence and over the years has set many Int'l Christmas Carols for treble voices in several languages. Christmas melodies are set both in traditional fashion and in a contemporary vein. Joan is also composer of original chamber and vocal music. Collections of Italian Folksongs are printed in booklets and used by her young students; many are simple, unknown and interesting melodies that could be harmonized by other composers. Translations can be provided upon request. All the libraries of Italy contain rare early music and Joan has researched several works that her choirs perform. A piece recently discovered is a 4 part unpublished canon by G. Rossini. Pieces can be requested.
