THE LANGUAGE OF MUSIC: 16 small step-by-step solfeggio albums in a contemporary idiom. Bilingual publications by Joan Yakkey, Florence, 2000 |
These handy small albums have a heavy colored paper cover. The method is based on a FIXED DO system and includes the use of traditional chromatic solfeggio syllables (do-di-re-ri). Prof. Yakkey has combined the Kodaly sol-fa syllables with the usage of Fixed DO. It seems impossible to impose a MOVABLE DO system on Italian students where letter names for notes do not exist. Both movable and fixed systems function with the albums. Joan has developed a compromise that functions well in many systems; each teacher throughout the world can easily integrate the booklets in his/her class's didactic curriculum in the manner in which is best suited for the pupils. |
