Suggestions: There is a regular everyday organ concert held in the Basilica during the summer.

It is well worth visiting the Beautiful Woman's Valley (Szépasszonyvölgy) for a good meal in one of the several quality restaurants and/or to explore the many traditional wine-cellars and sample the excellent local vintage.

Eger is also well-known for its thermal waters. Visitors can relax in the new, architecturally unique swimming pool.
The 'Strand' offers pools of various size, some filled with medicinal water, while the Turkish bath may also be interesting to tourists, which is open for the public only at weekends (Admission: Adult HUF 700, Student HUF 500).

For those who like touring/hiking there is a host of small villages and plenty of interesting sites in the surrounding hills (Cart Museum at Parád, Stud Farm in Szilvásvárad, the Romanesque Abbey Church near Bélapátfalva, the Bükk National Park etc.)

Did you know?...

...  The Camera Obscura can be found at the top of the Lyceum tower. The modern camera owes its name to the Latin for darkened room: "camera obscura". Cameras and camera obscuras work on the same principle of light passing through a small hole into a darkened room. Camera obscura projects a live image of the scene outside onto a white table in the dark-room.
