from page 1 President's Aisatsu conversation? We let
our students go around in the classroom to interview/greet/question other students
but have not done so ourselves. I would like for us to have a very "communication
friendly" association. It is your association! I welcome your opinions/inputs/comments
so that at least I can do my best to meet the needs of Texas sensei-gata, and
to create a friendly group of Japanese language teaching Texans. May the year
of horse be a vigorous yet gentle as a horse to each one of you, sensei and your
family.
 Yoshiko
Brotherton President Japanese Teachers Association of Texas (JTAT)
TFLA
Report There were a workshop and four sessions
relating to Japanese language and culture in the conference held by Texas Foreign
Language Teachers Association (TFLA) at Houston. The conference had the largest
numbers of people attended in TFLA history. It was not long ago that there was
no Japanese related events in TFLA except one workshop for Japanese teachers.
We come a long way, and we will continue to be active as JTAT.
JTAT
teachers who were in Houston area during TFLA conference were invited to the dinner
by the Consul-General of Japan, Mr. and Mrs. Amagi. We felt very positive of the
Consulate-General of Japan and their staff for their support expressed in such
wonderful way.
