Helena & Joia
Helena began receiving feedings through a nose tube to her stomach on Sunday 2/24.  Every three hours she was given 3 cc's of breast milk through the tube, while she sucked on a pacifier.  By having her suck on a pacifier while the feeding tube dripped milk into her stomach they hope to help her associate sucking with getting a full stomach. As of 2/27 Helena is up to 12 cc's per feeding.

(Left) Helena loves the pacifiers in the hospital nursery, which are made from tiny bottle nipples. Regular pacifiers are too big for Helena.
