Chapter Tu :::Daniel is Lost:::

SG1 (all but Daniel, as he was on an archaeological mission with SG6) sat around the briefing room table. They looked at General Hammond as he sighed heavily and sat down at his chair.

We received a transmission from Sg6 on PSC 3539. Last night Daniel Jackson went missing. They said they looked everywhere for him, there wasnt even the slightest trace of him, said General Hammond.
What was he last seen doing? asked Sam.
Sg6 reported that he was just going back to further study one of the artefacts they had previously discovered replied General Hammond.
Weeell ya know how passionate Daniel can get about these kind of things, give it a couple more hours! Jack said.
Sorry Colonel, Sg6 had already given him a day, and they also checked out the site of the artefact and he wasnt there. Just the Artefact,
Okay so I guess we have to go rescue him, Jack guessed.
Howd you guess? General Hammond said, sarcastically.
Oh I have a great intuition sir, Jack winked.
Should we not go immediately to retrieve Daniel Jackson? asked Tealc.
Good Idea O Tealc! Jack shouted enthusiastically.
O coarse its a good idea! General Hammond snapped. I want you all ready to go 20 minutes! Dismissed!

Jack walked into the Gateroom and adjusted his spiffy army hat in front of Sam and Tealc.
The Gates unstable wormhole exploded in a water like vortex. It flattened into a shimmering lake that was the event horizon. Jack stroked his p-90 appreciatively and stepped through the gate with the rest of his team.
When they reached the other side, Sg1 immediately checked the surrounding terrain for any sign of Daniel, Sg6 or an unexpected plot -changing Goauld attack. There was nothing, nothing at all. There was a planet that looked remarkably like the national parks of Vancouver but nothing more. They moved out of the vicinity of the Gate and headed for where the Sg6 archaeological camp was.
After they tramped through 2 kilometres of bush, Tealc was suddenly alerted. A trumpeting sound came from a fair distance behind them.
A Jaffa patrol has spotted us, behind us they are! We must get to sg6! Tealc said and started to run.
Sg1 reached a clearing and jogged to a burnt out camp. The bodies of Sg6 lay scorched on the ground. Sg1 walked sorrowfully through the devastated camp, looking for any remaining life.
The patrol sounded its horn once more; they were close. Sg1 quickly moved into the forest and searched for cover. They found a small cave in the side of a stone ridge that had been conveniently covered by some shrubs. It was dark in the cave, they lit the torches on the end of their p90s and scanned the room. In the far corner, hunched over, was Lieutenant Charlie Schmidt-Tyers, clutching his wound to the thigh.
Sam approached him and lay her hand on his shoulder sympathetically. Lieutenant, are you alright? She asked.
What does it look like? He whined and showed Sam the smoking wound on his thigh.
Buggar. We can help you with that, Sam said and opened her first aid kit and attended to the Lieutenants wound.
Jack looked around the cave. He found a journal with a leather cover. He inspected the cover. He found an inscription at the bottom saying Daniel Jackson. This must have been the place Daniel was studying the artefact. He put the book down and looked around some more. Not far from the book lay a small spherical object with runes on it. Jack did not understand why Daniel did not take this small object back to the camp. Why had he stayed here to study it?
This looks familiar, Jack said as he picked up the orb. The colours of the orb began to change. They began to swirl very slowly.
Tealc approached the orb and looked at it. The writing is that of the Asgard, this appears to be an Asgard device of some kind, he said.
Oh thats great.
The Orbs colours began to swirl faster. Until it seemed to form a picture. A picture of a door, a rather large door, with fancy gold on it too. Looks like the hall at Edoras, said Jack.
Tealc looked at him and raised an eyebrow. Sam stopped tending to the lieutenant.
What did you just say, sir? she asked, afraid at the fact the Colonel actually sounded smart.
Ya know, that place from Lord of the Rings. With that BABE Legolas er, I mean Eowyn Jack muttered something about Gandalf and his really shiny new clothes. The orb began to hum and light began to shine from it. Jack was startled and dropped the orb. He backed away slowly.
ONeill, the orb appears to be building up a charge of some sort, said Tealc. On the far wall a faint light appeared. It progressively got lighter and lighter to reveal the shape of a door with art-deco creepers hanging off it and more of the runes. In the middle of the door was a handprint. They all looked at the door in wonder as the lighted rippled softly off the walls.
Jack picked up Daniels journal to look for clues. He flicked to the most recent entry. Jack read the entry aloud:

The orb appears to be some sort of Asgard transportation device. The Runes on the ball reads:
To the place of my ancestors. Like the speed of the great steed Sleipnir.
I will attempt to

That was it. The writing stopped abruptly. I think Daniel went to wherever this thing takes you when he heard the Goauld coming, Jack swallowed heavily. But thats just an assumption,
Sir, I think we should check it out. Daniel might be trapped in that placeor something, Sam said.
Alright then. Were going in. Tealc pick up the orb and put it in your pack. Lieutenant? Do you think you are up to coming with us? asked Jack.
I guess I could sir, the Lieutenant smiled.
Good Charlie! Jack slapped the Lieutenant lightly on the shoulder as he limped over.
What do we do now? asked Sam.
I think we are intended to touch the hand print on the door, Tealc said.
Oh, I shall go first, Jack put his hand on the print and was absorbed by a bright light that swept the room. The others followed suit.
