Yes, I picked us to lose worse than Virginia did.  I'm sorry, but we got beat last year, when we were better and they were worse.  To add to that, I think we just match up worse than Virginia.  Our DBs got outrun a couple of times by Akron receivers.  I'll say that again.  Our DBs got beat by Akron receivers a couple times.  To reiterate, some people on Akron's team ran faster than our DBs.  I think this will also be the one team with a RB able to run against us this year.  Greg Jones....Phil tells me he's 252 lbs, and runs the 40 in 4.3!  For those of you wondering, E.J. Henderson weighs 250 pounds, and I bet Bruce Perry runs a 4.3 40.  Now combine them.  Add to that the man who ties it together, Chris Rix.  Did I mention he can run too?  Our only chance lies in a shaky FSU secondary (which can't really be considered any more shaky than our passing game).  Oklahoma has dropped out of my National Championship picture.  FSU hasn't.  In my opinion, it could likely be between FSU, VT, Tennessee, Texas, and now that I've seen them, definitely Miami.  Prepare for Oct 12th.  A huge showdown between FSU and Miami could replace Oklahoma-Texas as my preseason game of the year.

Man, this game scares me.  Not because I feel that they will beat us, it's cuz I feel we can beat them andthas what I felt about ND also.  But then again they say that the biggest change comes between weeks 1 and 2 and 35 points in the first half of last weeks game is good.  The fact that we were playing 2nd stringers in there from the third quarter on tells me that there is a big drop off.  Good news, Bruce suits up for every practice, but will he play on saturday.  is this game worth the risk of losing him for the rest of the year possibly?  in my opinion, no.  If he's not healthy, then beat them the way we have to: passing.

I know many of you are like "crazy!  we can't beat them! they're ranked #5"  but they average 284 yards passing yards allowed per game.  ....is that good?  no, not at all.  Seneca Wallace and the rookie stacked cavaliers threw all over the young seminole secondary.  Four young sophomore safties rotating in against us, and the same two cornerbacks who we torched last year.  With a great, but slower LB core, FSU will stop any running game that does not go straight through the gut.  Boulware is the fastest player on the team.  think of EJ...with speed but who can't read the pass as well, and you have Boulware.

Chris Rix is a QB who knows who he's throwing to as soon as he drops back, once he locks on a receiver, the ball is going to him whether the defense is ready or not.  The question is, will UMD's secondary be ready and waiting for the ball? The key to beating Rix is to make him throw when he's ready, but make him feel like he's in a hurry.  Make him not check the safeties and by the end of this game, Madieu Williams will be leading the league in interceptions.  if the Terps DL doesn't get pressure on the qb, fine with Rix, he'll scorch us on those underneath patterns.  our LB's have to stay short,  FSU loves to let their receivers catch the ball in full stride going crossfield, and rix loves to run it up the middle if he sees it open.  EJ has to stay level and watch his blind spots so he can get another pick like he had last week.

the team with the most BIG PLAYS will win this won.  With Suter, and Jafar healthy, and three unknown RB's, the Terps have the potential to make it happen.  The question will be whether Rix can get Greg Jones' power rushing in the heads of the defense so he can take it to the house with gardner, boldin and the rest?  Answer: NO! GO TERPS!

We won big last week.  Against Akron.  Akron.  Yeah.  Notre Dame killed us.  Florida State is probably (yes, probably) better than the Irish.  Yes, we are at home.  No, it probably won't matter.  Rix threw all over us last year, and it'll happen again.  Plus, Greg Jones is a MONSTER.  Why is he unrecognized in college football?  We might have a late comeback in this game, but I still think we lose.

*Note- I'd like to thank G for finishing this 6 page report in time.  I can't help but love his constant optimism towards UMD.  Don't give up, G!

Oy.  In my opinion, two of the most over-rated teams in the country.  In my opinion, this is in the showcase to showcase a couple of frauds.  Nebraska didn't exactly slam the door on Troy State's party, beating them by a mere 2 touchdowns.  Penn State had trouble in their opener against Central Florida.  Joe Pa rides his own coattails into the rankings this year.  It's hard for me to take any big conclusions out of this game, because I feel both are ranked wrong.  I'll have to wait to see what I think after they play some other opponents.  The main question I have is "is Nebraska more or less overrated than Penn State".  I guess I'll find out.

Nebraska....penn state.....zach mills?  oi.  Urbana's finest....is at Pitt right now in Billy Gaines.  It's not Zach f'n Mills.  Who is this guy,  he wins one game and all of a sudden he's some saviour.  No, he's zach frickin mills.  he grew up on a farm and played for a decent hs who got whooped last weekend.  so long for their 50 straight wins.  anyway, nebraska....jamal lord...now if anyone is a saviour, it's him.  I mean just look at his name.  nuff said.  Huskers win 21 to 17

This pick may be a little out there, but I think JoePa gets a big victory at home.  Nebraska gets its first real test, and I think the Nittany Lions are up for the challenge.  Happy Valley shall live up to its name after the game...ya know...happy
