| Marshall (16), (17) at Virginia Tech (11). (9) Final Score: Virginia Tech, 47-21 GUEST SAGE ARUN: Virginia Tech, 35-17 16.0 points Harmon: Virginia Tech, 33-16 15.4 points CFN: Virginia Tech, 40-27 16.0 points Joe: Virginia Tech, 45-27 17.2 points In my opinion, Byron Leftwich has been catapulted into the Heisman hot seat, with Grossman's sub-par performance last week. He will do relatively well against a very stingy VT defense, but he can't depend on his own defense to stop the Hokies. They allowed Appalachian State to put up 17 on them. I don't question whether or not Randall can handle this offense. He's good enough to keep the defense honest, which is all Suggs and Jones need to light a fire on the field this weekend. I look for Tech to continue to climb all the way, eventually, into the top 5. Marshall might have had a chance, had this game not been in Blacksburg. G: Virginia Tech, 49-45 10.8 points personally, I think this will be one of the highest scoring games this year. This will not be by choice. This will be cuz the VT rb's will have nothing but air infront of them, and be forced to keep running or else they'll get caught. The Marshall receivers will have to do no work cuz Byron will place it into their hands. VT has to make sure that Adibi stays on top of Leftwich. speaking of Adibi, i hope his little brother Xavier comes to UMD. With that said, VT will win, cuz Lee Suggs and KJ will gain over 340 yards on the ground...and only one back will play the 4th quarter...sick. Phil: Virginia Tech, 34-24 14.2 points Leftwich and Watts and the crew roll into Blacksburg looking to strike a BCS blow for the little guy. It could happen, the Thundering Herd is offensively stacked. But it won't. Va Tech has a solid D and the best backfield in college football. Sorry, Marshall. Washington State (10), (11) at Ohio State (6), (8) Final Score: Ohio State, 25-7 GUEST SAGE ARUN: Ohio State, 38-21 17.0 points Harmon: Ohio State, 28-24 12.8 points CFN: Ohio State, 31-20 16.0 points Joe: Ohio State, 35-31 11.8 points This one was tough for me. I really think the top of the Pac 10 is strong this year, but Michigan recently beat a very strong (in my opinion) Washington team. By the way, I originally said that game was in Washington. Phil corrected me, and threw off my pick. I feel my clairevoyance fading. I feel naked. And alone. Anyway, there are two Heisman longshots in this game in Jason Gesser and OSU freshman tailback, Maurice Clarett. Clarett already looks like an NFL back compared to some of the defenders out there. I would not be surprised if he can compete in the next level. This game could make Sage Phil look good in his preseason commentary, as he predicted Wash State as a possible darkhorse Fiesta bowl team. I haven't seen his pick, but I wouldn't be shocked if he picked the Cougars to win on the road. G: Ohio State, 31-17 17.2 points Maurice Clarett will have yet another big day as a true freshman. Jason Gesser will shit all over the place.....but still....Jerome Riley will have about 4 catches for 80 yards and 2 TD's that should be koo to watch. Yah, go buckeyes....fuck the Pac10 Phil: Ohio State, 33-27 13.6 points This game excites me. My Pac 10 favorite travels to play my Big 10 favorite. Don't be surprised if there's a rematch in the Rose Bowl. Don't be surprised if the Buckeyes hold off the Cougars at home, either. Michigan (7), (6) at Notre Dame (20), (21) Final Score, Notre Dame, 25-23 points GUEST SAGE ARUN: Michigan, 28-14 9.6 points Harmon: Michigan, 25-21 13.0 points CFN: Michigan, 21-9 9.0 points Joe: Michigan 28-16 10.4 points Michigan has a very solid defense. Notre Dame's offense hasn't produced a touchdown yet. I bet Notre Dame's monster of a kicker gets at least 3 field goals in this game, possibly all for 40 or even 50 yards. Their defense has impressed me so far, stopping a potent Purdue offense, and embarrassing an unprepared Maryland....sigh. This is a whole new ball game, though. Michigan is simply on a different level than Purdue or Maryland. I so wanted to pick ND for this game, but there is too much going against them. G: Michigan, 35-15 8.2 points when is ND gonna score an offensive TD? not this game, thas for sure! They were one yard away in the Terps game, but that sick animal Curome Cox stopped that dream! BITCH! Michigan finally is starting to look like michigan. They will throw those 15 yard outs all day and the crowd will make them seem like 150 yard passing plays(those are impossible by the way). michigan will win....big. and they will win good. Phil: Notre Dame, 20-17 18.6 points I don't know how. But it will happen. It shouldn't. But it will. Despite lack of any offensive touchdowns yet this season, Notre Dame is 2-0, and it could happen again! Somehow, someway, the Irish D and special teams keeps comin' up with funky-ass touchdowns like every single day. Wake up the echoes! continued |
