The Vine:
The Chill Bar has one tradition started thanks to my artistic endeavors at Garfield's in Terre Haute. I created vines of people everytime I went to the restaurant. That Vine was transferred to the walls of the Chill Bar, to portray all the friends and imbibers of the Chill Bar.
The Quote Wall:
The wall was started sometime shortly after the creation of the Chill Bar. Most sources agree that it was started by Tina Flispart, but it has grown beyond just one simple quote. The members of the Chill Bar are constantly seeking out new wall space to continue writing down their drunken exclamations!
The Magic Absorbing Carpet:
This magic carpet exists on the second floor of Sigma Nu chapter home at DePauw before 2003. Bill kept the tradition of showing how the carpet works. He displayed the magic properties of the carpet by pouring an old, full beer on the carpet. The carpet miracluously showed no signs of the stain just five minutes later. The carpet has been known to suck down snow, puke, beer, coke, water and many other liquid substances.
The Dr. Jekyl/Mr. Hyde Cup:
It is a cup that comes from the Jekyl and Hyde club in New York City. The dinner was part of a 21st birthday celebration for Veto. The cup bears an inscription about the coruption of man: As such newcomeres, who have not had alcohol in the Chill Bar before, take their first drink from this cup as a sign of their coruption. This cup is part of corupting history of the Chill Bar that has occured from one generation to the next.
The Drinking Slogan Book:
It is the book that provides us with quotes for our drinking activities. They range from mantras for drinking heavily to enjoying the camraderie of friends. For party after party this book gave us the rallying cry for our drinking. That rally cry was selected by someone special for the evening or by consensus of the group. That slogan stayed with us for the entire night.
