I was introduced to Sigma Nu during my second semester of my freshman year by my best friend Mike Arledge.  I didn't know what to expect when I joined, I kind of did it on a whim, just to try out the fraternity thing.  This was the same blind leap that I made to come to DePauw in the first place so I figured that was an approriate way to make the decision.
I was a collegian member of Sigma Nu's Beta Beta Chapter at DePauw University from April of 2000 until May of 2003.  I am still an active member of the fraternity even as an alumni, or at least I try to be one.

My sophomore year also presented me with the opportunity to meet my best friend in the world.  I met Dan Ahlgren as a pledge during my sophomore year.  He spent a lot of time at Sigma Nu and always needed a ride back to Logden at the end of the night.  Since I was the recorder, the marshal put to me the task to take him home.  These drives gave me the wonderful opportunity to get to know Dan, forever after referred to as Veto.  I spent the next two years becoming best friends with after that semester of driving him home.

My junior year was much of the same.  I spent it getting close to all of my brothers.  I lived on the same floor with Jeff, Veto, Reck, Mike and Chad.  Plus I got to know new people that hung out at the chapter.  Many I had met in my sophomore and freshman year, but didn't get close to until my junior year.  Caroline and Palak were such people that I got to know through our long trips exploring the backroads of Putnam County.  I also met a wonderful crop of new people: Tina, David, Ben, Aaron, Adam, Elise and many others.  Plus after Rector burned down, I got the opportunity to live with wonderful people like Dan Phares, Jon Day and  Palak.  Plus Smash Brothers and Mario Tennis were great means for cohesion between me and my brothers especially Yusaku.
My sophomore year started off with a wonderful bang.  I came back to DePauw with a broken foot, a sovenier from my vacation to Florida.  This fracture caused me to have to exchange rooms with Joel Hruska.  This was a great chance of fate, through my room I was exposed to Jeff, Bill, Chad, Reck and Foose.  All of these guys I may never have gotten as close to, if I lived on the third floor.  Plus I got to stay on the floor with Mike.
Badge of my fraternity
My final year at Sigma Nu was quite eventful.  I was thrown into a great role as an officer.  A position that a senior does not always wish for during his final year.  I did my best and made the most of every weekend, party and social opportunity.  Many times to detriment of my grades, I chose my brothers and fraternity.  I had fun at events just because I knew I had to help everyone have a good time.  My senior year was a great exercise in making things happen from the standpoint of an organizer.  I ran a formal, social events and community service events.  I greatly enjoyed being the teacher to the candidates from the class of 2006.  They are a great group of guys.  In short my senior year was the icing on a wonderful career with Sigma Nu.  It was a little hard to apply, but it was well worth it once you look back on your work!
