Pasadena is pretty accessible by all major forms of transportation.  Of course, Pasadena is located right in the heart of  Southern California's "car culture" and we do love our cars.  A recent poll showed that there is almost a 1:1 ratio of cars:people in the Los Angeles area.  What does all this mean?   You should definitely allow plenty of time to reach the church (the ceremony starts at 2:30pm).   Traffic on Southern California freeways can be horrendous, even on Saturdays.  If you are going to be staying in Pasadena, then chances are you'll be able to walk to the church and reception site and won't have a problem.

Planes
The most convenient airport to Pasadena is not LAX but
Burbank.  A cab or shuttle ride from LAX to Pasadena will take about 40 minutes (assuming no traffic) while the same ride from Burbank will only take about 20 to 25 minutes.  Jody and I used to fly in and out of Burbank a lot when Jody lived up in Morgan Hill.

If you're coming from the San Jose area or another city in the Western U.S., we suggest
Southwest Airlines.  It's definitely "no frills" but you can get pretty good deals if you book your flight at least three weeks in advance.  They fly into Burbank, or, if you prefer, they also fly into LAX and John Wayne (Orange County).

Other airlines that fly into Burbank include
Alaska, America West, American, and United

TRAINS
Okay, maybe you're a hopeless romantic and you want to take the train to Pasadena.  Well, you might want to click
here to visit Amtrak.  We pulled a sample schedule which would leave San Jose on the morning of November 16th at 6:45am and travel to Stockton, Bakersfield, and then arrive in Pasadena at 3:55pm.  The return trip is similar, leaving Pasadena at 6:45am and returning to San Jose by 3:55pm.  The cost for one adult is $90.  You may also want to call Amtrak to double-check your schedule.  The Pasadena Amtrak station is actually very conveniently located at the Hilton Hotel at 150 South Los Robles Avenue, which puts it very close to the Doubletree Hotel and within walking distance of the church and reception site.  But, the station is unstaffed and is a "connecting Thruway motorcoach service location" (meaning you'll be on a bus instead of a train).

AUTOMOBILES
There are of course many different car rental agencies in Pasadena.  You can visit this link
here for a listing of all the rental car companies in Pasadena.  If you do stay in Pasadena and don't plan on going to Hollywood, the beach, or the like, then you can definitely get by without a car.  Pasadena is a walking city with several different pedestrian shopping areas (see the Shop 'Til You Drop page).  Ideally, if you're flying into town, you should rent  your car from the airport you'll be coming in and out of.

Some car rental companies available at Burbank Airport are
Alamo, Hertz, Budget,and  Dollar.
