The File Editor
Chronicle has a built-in File Editor which is used to edit and save the files you create while using the plugin. The editor is a simple plain text editor which has most common text manipulation features.
The Chronicle File Editor handles unstyled, plain text ONLY. It does not make any attempt to format text, and stylized text loses all text styles when brought into Chronicle. Although this may seem awkward and possibly frustrating at first, please note that this is a necessary and ultimately desirable quality. The overhead of creating and maintaining the ability for Chronicle to detect and format all forms of text is beyond the scope of the plugin as envisioned by the author. Also, because Chronicle is designed to handle any type of text, it is presumed that much of the content managed using the plugin could potentially be incomplete or unique in nature. It would be impossible to maintain a list of ALL possible types of data that any user might want to import and to create a programmatic mechanism for validating all of those types of data. For this reason, Chronicle currently displays all text viewed in the editor as basic, black-and-white text.

Editing/Renaming Files...
To rename a file while in the File Editor, simply change the file's name in the "Name" field, then click "Save".
Creating New Files...
A new file can be created while editing an existing file by selecting "New File..." from the "Action" menu. Depending on a setting in your Chronicle preferences you may be prompted to confirm whether you would like to save any unsaved changes to the current file before creating the new file.
Miscellaneous File Options...
- New Folder
A new folder can be created while editing a file by selecting "New Folder..." from the "Action" menu.
Depending on a setting in your Chronicle preferences you may be prompted to confirm whether you would like to save any unsaved changes to the current file before creating the new folder.
- Reveal in Finder
You can reveal the current file in the Finder by selecting "Reveal in Finder" from the "Action" menu in the Chronicle Library window.
- Get Info
To get information about the current file, select "Get Info" from the "Action" menu in the Chronicle Library window.
The file info will be displayed in Chronicle's built-in Info viewer.
You can also click on "More Info" while viewing the info to launch the Finder Info Window for the file.
Deleting the Current File...
To delete the current file, select "Move to Trash" from the "Action" menu in the Chronicle Library window. Chronicle does not actually "Delete" files, but rather moves them into your Trash bin, where they will be purged when you next empty the trash.
A setting in the Chronicle Preferences determines whether or not you will be warned with a dialog before the item is moved to the trash.
