New Technologies

There are new technologies for military aircraft, like the drone, V/STOL, and radar avoidance. Drones are pilotless planes. They are use for reconnaissance reasons, do ground mapping, and laser inertial navigation for weapon systems. V/STOL planes are Vertical or Short Take of and Landing aircraft. They use jump jets, or a hybrid mix of helicopters and conventional planes. Radar avoidance planes, like the F-117A Stealth and the Stealth Bomber, are made out of materials which make them immune to conventional radar.

Electronic Countermeasures

Electronic countermeasures (ECM) are key tactical parts of aerial warfare. It is used to jam enemy radar, which was proven in the Gulf War.

ECM is achieved by when a fighter jet carries a jamming pod to jam enemy radar, and High-speed Anti-Radiation Missiles (HARMs) to destroy radar guided SAM batteries. Thus, making a "Safe corridor" for bombers. The bombers then use this corridor or shield, which allows them to hit an enemy target undetected to radar.
