BWO: This fly is most commonly used to immitate the Baetis mayfly, although it can serve as an immitation for over 50 other mayflie (mostly those belonging to the Baetidae family). Baetis are the first big mayfly hatch of the year (anywhere from February to the end of March), but also have a decent hatch toward the end of the season (Sept/Oct). Fish this nymph toward the bottom of a river or swing it during a hatch.
