Standard I: Technology Operations and Concepts

Teachers demonstrate a sound understanding of technology operations and concepts


What Teachers Should be Able to do:

  1. Demonstrate introductory knowledge, skills, and understanding of concepts related to technology (as described in the ISTE National Educational Technology Standards for Students).
  2. Demonstrate continual growth in technology knowledge and skills to stay abreast of current and emerging technologies.

How this Standard Relates to TRED 701:

This is a pretty comprehensive standard. It basically says that teachers should acquire and maintain technological understanding and ability. TRED 701 prepared me to meet this standard by including projects which exposed me to a wide variety of technologies. These included new software packages, use of the Internet for instruction, use of e-mail for professional development, and use of the World Wide Web for displaying student work.
