My Experience

Marketing Intern at Eurasia Institute

In the fall semester of 2019 I had the privilege of going on an international internship through the humanities department of BYU. My internship was at the Eurasia Institute for International Education in the marketing department. For three months I lived in Berlin and took the train everyday to work at EIIE as their marketing intern. I don't speak German, but luckily due to the internationally geared approach to marketing, most communication was in English.

While there, I learned about their niche marketing approach. Because Germany offers free schooling, people from all over the world will go there to take advantage of a free education. Eurasia markets to those people by not only teaching them German, but also helping them with the proper paperwork and actual process of getting accepted into a German University.

I took on many responsibilities there, some more mundane than others, but one of the most notable was the Halloween party I planned with the goal of getting more students to connect to the Facebook page. I planned part of the party to be a costume contest where the most liked photo on the facebook page would win a prize.

Along with the Halloween party I learned to use management software, organized leads, increased activity on Facebook group page, and created a survey for their alumni giving valuable feedback on what sets them apart.
