| What a shame. Not only has baseball lost one of it's great symbols, it is showing that the dying breed of true baseball greats are becoming much harder to find. It may be years before fans begin to change their minds the next time a ball player hits 50 home runs in a season. Instead of thinking steroids, maybe we will just admire their stardom mediocraties. |

| Rumors in the baseball circle have Ken Griffey Jr going to the White Sox before the end of the regular season. Since Junior was traded to the Reds in 2000, he has been plagues with injuries. This year, he is batting .286 in 416 at-bats with 27 home runs. Griffey is due to make over $10.3 million this year. |
