IMPORTANT FANTASY BASEBALL DATES

- March 6th
will be the 5th annual Twelve Men Out 2005 Fantasy Baseball Draft. All owners are encouraged to arrive before the 12:00pm start time. This year will be more difficult due to the protected players from 2004 and the supplemental draft fot the new teams entering the league this year. Good luck to all!
FANTASY BASEBALL NOTES FROM THE COMMISSIONER

-
After draft commences, the rosters will be locked into place for approximately one week. No additions, drops or trades will be permitted during this time of lockdown. After that one week has passed, adds, drops and trades will be allowed to commence.

- All teams will produce a line-up by
Sunday of every week and will consist of 13 positional players and 10 pitchers to the desire of the owner. It is not strictly enforced if a line-up is missed on Sunday but a line-up will not be accepted if a considerable amount of time has passed for that week and the owner will have to play their line-up from the previous week. Obviously, situations arise and special considerations will be made in the event an owner is unable to produce a line-up on time.

- Statistics will be kept by the commissioner and a co-commissioner and can be obtained by e-mailing
[email protected].

- Any questions reguarding anything pertaining to the league whether you believe a statistical inaccuracy or even a complaint, please contact the commissioner at the above e-mail address so that the matter may be resolved expediently.

- And finally, just a reminder that this is a
fun league. Obviously, I preach participation but I also want this to be something that everyone can do at the end of the day just to relax or unwind from the hectic lives we all live. If you do find it to be something of a chore than something fun, please contact the commissioner so we may make the proper arrangements and address any issues that you may have.

- Other than that, I am looking forward to seeing you all at the draft and good luck on hopefully a fantastic 2005 fantasy baseball season!

2004: A Year In Review
LARRY'S YANKEES FINALLY PUT TOGETHER A WINNING COMBINATION
-Probably one of the hardest things to do in fantasy baseball is to win back-to-back championships. Larry and his Yankees have an enormous task at hand for the 2005 season as he tries to win for the second time in as many years. In order to accomplish this, luck will definitely have to be on his side. It takes more than luck though. Roster management, injury updates, and player trading all play into whether a team will be on top of the competition or cleaning up their proverbial poop. And starting out the season in last place doesn't mean that that team will be a bottom-dweller the whole year. Larry's Yankees worked their way from near the bottom of the rankings to win the TMO championship in dramatic fashion over Chicards and Turklar.
TAUNTON, MA- I guess sometimes if you complain enough, you get what you want.
     And Larry was no exception.
In all the years that he deperately made trades to pick up big name Yankee players and desperate to dump the "never-was" Bruce Chen from his roster, Larry and his Yankees finally tasted the grapes of glory last year to take the Twelve Men Out Fantasy Baseball Championship in a tight race between Chicards and Turklar.
The race for first place was hot all the way into September. Turklar actually had a solid foothold on first place coming into the final weeks of the season. But consistent losses and the Yankees good fortune changed the landscape of where the season was headed.
Probably one of the toughest season's for Steve's Dred Zeppelins on record as he finished dead last at 12-38 with a winning percentage of .240. Kyle's Ringwraith's weren't far behind at 18-32 with a winning percentage of .360. An unusual outcoming for Kyle's team, who typically is in contention for first place every year.
One team predicted to have a strong 2005 is Bobby and Seth's BSDoublePlay. Drafting has always been a strength for this team and the early stash of protected players puts this team in a position to win games this year.
Claire's Red Storm finished 2004 in fifth place and had an overall solid year. This is another team that is predicted to have a comeback year in 2005 with Nomar Garciaparra, Curt Schilling, and Kerry Wood (to name a few) protected from last year.
Don's Colt 45's also had an off year and should rebound in the upcoming season. Traditionally, Don always drafts well and does a good job focusing on team management. If the injury bug doesn't visit too often, look for Colt 45's to go deep into the playoffs.
Brian's 9 of Clubs had an up-and-down year in 2004. When Brian seemed to have righted the ship, injury after injury would pile up and the 9 of Clubs could never climb the ladder to superiority.
Newcomers Danny and Jimmy aren't predicted to contend in 2005 but they both might make things difficult for other teams. Don't completely rule either one out of a playoff berth, but I would be suprised if either one went real deep into the playoffs.
Chicards may have a strong 2005. With a second place finish in 2004, it's possible Chicards' losing ways may be a thing of the past. Time will tell in that aspect.
Tom's WoodenFishHead was unstoppable in the first half of 2004 but slowly tailed off towards the close of the season. Maybe this year he will be able to make that early-season dominance last into September.
Last but not least, Ashlee's Dakotas led the league early last season, but inefficient roster management proved negative and the Dakotas limped to a 23-27 finish with a sub-.500 winning percentage.
