He was having the start any batter could ask for. Batting .241 with 20 hits, 20 runs, 22 RBI's and 9 home runs, Arizona D'Backs 1st baseman Richie Sexson was "en fuego" and April wasn't even over yet. But as the fantasy baseball community can collectively agree on this, a player's luck changes more the a sinking curveball in mid-air. Sexson was handed that fate on Wednesday night when he attempted to check swing a pitch from Cubs pitcher LaTroy Hawkins and injured his shoulder just enough to land him on the 15-day disabled list. Kind of ironic after Sexson had hit his 200th career home run just a night before; a mammoth shot that traveled 503 feet and plunked the scoreboard that was displaying Sexson's face. That was a figurative "slap in the face." Wednesday night was a real slap. The only other two players that had better fantasy points were Sean Casey of Cincinnati with 136 and Todd Helton with 130. |
