Spring Semester 2004
Thursday: After holding the net for the pingpong players and the frisbee meeting, I call Kenneth while roaming around campus looking for something to do. He decided that Jeremy and I should go over to the apartment to watch SWAT, which I hadn't seen. A great movie, definately a good guy movie possibility for Valentine's Day. And Jeremy's base in his car passed the back massage test while playing Fatboy Slim. Mission Accomplished: Got back to Richardson before 2 AM.
Friday: Playing frisbee with a constant 10-15 MPH wind with gusts up to 20. Definately not fun. We got shutout in two games to 4. I was so frustrated I did not want to talk to or see anyone, so I played one of my favorite games: Drive out to an arbitrary spot and return to Rock Hill without simply turning around and following the route you took to get there. I took Business 21 to I-77 to Billy Graham Parkway to 273 to 274 to 49 to 161 to 901 to Herlong to Constitution to 322 to school. I sat in traffic in Charlotte on Billy Graham, but it did not frustrate me like it usually does since I was in no hurry to get anywhere. And the sunset was pretty cool, too. Nice pink clouds. Anyways. Upon my return and a trip to Taco Bell, I go to Benson's room to watch some Japanese movie that was basically a take off on Assassins. Big Mike, Andy, Alex, and Anna where there. After the movie ended and everyone left, Benson and I got to talking about relationships as usual. The clock is ticking on his resolution to give up dating for a year. We are all taking bets on how long it will last. I also made a small request of him to attempt to gather information pertaining to someone of particular interest to me in regards to relationship leanings. A small request considering he played the decoy so Aaron Russell could pop around a corner and scare me. I think we're even.
Saturday: A decent day of frisbee. We had enough for three teams of 8 with a sub. It was ridiculous. My team at least won the first game, meaning we actually scored points. I rolled my ankle in the second game. If there is a divot on the field, I'll undoubtably step in it and roll my ankle, it's a given. Then I subed in for Art's dad when he was involved in a mid-air collision. By the fourth game, we were frustrated. I know I was so pissed off that I started spewing profanities. It was all just a combination of being hurt, tired, and frustrated at myself for playing poorly. If we don't start playing other teams soon, fights are going to start breaking out between our own team members. Afterwards, I went to dinner with Art, Kat, Art's father, Joe, and his step-mother, Irene. Gotta love Applebee's. Dinner was on Joe. Art rationalized it as "Your dad bought me dinner, now my dad has bought you dinner." After getting back to Richardson, I ran into Benson. He gave me a briefing on what he gathered, injecting his expert analysis. Then I was off to Rutledge to see what Anne was up to. After trying most of the doors to find them locked, I decided incessant tapping on the window would be a good way to gain access. Anyways, we talked for a little while until she needed to do work on the wheel, at which point I stopped talking to avoid being a distraction and just watched in wonder and amazement at how the clay could be manipulated. It was all very cool to watch. I left after a bit with the intention of getting reading done so I could watch the Super Bowl without the satisfaction of procrastinating. But as soon as I got back to my room, as soon as I closed the door and isolated myself, I started feeling down. It's very hard to accomplish anything when you are depressed; hard to do anything when you really don't care. So I watched some TV, The Matrix was on. Finally went to sleep around 2.
Sunday: I got up at 8 with the intention of using my new means of conveyance, Rollerblades, to chase any squirrels that crossed my path. As I "jumped" out of bed to hit the alarm, I realized that my ankle had swollen up a little bit during the night. Yeah, rollerblading on a bad ankle, not gonna do it. So I slept til about 9:45 and hoped to catch Art at breakfast at 10, no such luck. Then I started doing my homework. It's a good thing Art called at like 12:30 to ask when I was going to play frisbee because I had fallen asleep trying to slog through this speech by Patrick Henry. Anyways, only Art, Andrew, and I showed up for frisbee, which is probably good since I couldn't really run anyways. We left for the Super Bowl party at 6, but while I was waiting I saw everyone else I knew, practically, come in or out of Richardson, and they all had different parties to go to. So during the first half I managed to consume an entire medium Little Ceasar's pizza. Art and I left at halftime, I needed to leave since I already felt pretty gluttonous. I would like to point out once again that the Super Bowl is fixed. All you have to do is watch the last Carolina kickoff to see that. And didn't most of the penalties go the Patriots way? Yeah.
Monday: Today, I made my first step towards becoming a bank. Benson needed some money to keep his checking account above 0, so I loaned him $45. There was a Singles Anonymuos meeting in Benson's room tonight. Aaron R., Kenneth, Ponds, Benson, and I watched Seven, an absolutely great movie, and undoubtably grusome. I liked it, yay for movies without happy endings. Then I met up with Art and we made a trip to Waffle House. Conversation was about relationships, of course, and religion, obviously. As those are the only two subjects that I really care about at this moment in time, I didn't mind. I'm always looking for advise on my current situation; it's always good to get a different angle. My own analysis can only take me so far, and I lack the creativity to explore every possibility. I have decided that I may have been given an opportunity to express myself further to her, but due to my severe cautiousness in this arena, I kept my thoughts to myself. I just hope that I will be given another such opportunity before I reach the point where my frustration at not knowing what her feelings are overruns my patience for gathering information to that end and also for protecting myself and my sensibilities. Ah yes, the games we play when it comes down to relationships. I've put way to much thought into all of this.

Wednesday: Went to the Coastal game, we were losing pretty bad. We left with about 1:30 left and we were down by 8, since we had to go watch the girls play intramurals. While we are cheering the Firecrackers on, who just destroyed the team they were playing, we get a call from the guys at the game, Winthrop wins on a 3 pointer with 7 seconds left. Yay, I finally figured out how to get them to win. Anyways, I meet up with Aaron Russell and Benson, we decide to go to Denny's. We see Art on his way to the ACC, he was touched by a muse. Denny's was like it always is, fun. We leave, Benson sees some rubber gloves on the ground, and tells us to stay away from the condoms. I reply with "Just because it's latex doesn't mean they're condoms." Quote of the night.
