Spring Semester 2004
Tuesday: Worst basketball game ever. How can you get knocked out in the first round by UNC-Asheville? How can you get knocked out by UNCA two years in a row? How can Winthrop have ten team fouls with 6 minutes left in the second half and UNCA only has 2 team fouls? How?
Tuesday Night: Another night in The Vault with AR and the boys. I had a really good philosophical and religious discussion with Ponds, AR, and Benson from like 1 or 2 until 4 in the morning, when we decided we should call it a night. AR: "Wow, we didn't really even talk about girls tonight." Well, there were only two things that were important to me, relationships and religion. I have opted myself out of pursuing relationships, and I didn't want to talk about them, so I think that I may have led us to talk about religion, the only thing important to me at the moment. Plus, we didn't let Benson monopolize the discussion.
Wednesday: Played goaltimate in the afternoon. I'm really good at cherry picking in front of the net, getting position, and scoring. Hey, it's just like hockey. Anyways, it was fun, and good to be out in the mid 70 degree weather.
Thursday: Skipped my first class of the semester to play frisbee and enjoy the outdoors. No, the goaltimate game wasn't really worth it, but there's nothing I can do about it now anyways. I did have a good talk with Kat. We stood out in front of the ACC for about an hour and a half  just talking about religion and how her relationship with Art is going. It was good to get her view on how it is going, because I really only get information from one side of the relationship, Art's. We won our first intramural game, our last game, tonight. Fair and squared. Ha. Everything the refs called a foul, was not a foul. Everything they let go, was a foul. It was ridiculous. But we won, and actually played the other team this time. It was sweet. Frisbee meeting for the 3 on 3 tournament in Raleigh. Pre-meeting pingpong, oh yeah! Attempting to get five people to run around the table and hit the ball was oh so unsuccessful.
Friday: What is good for frisbee team morale? Beating the complete and utter tar out of those arrogant 8th floor assholes. We let them score the first point, but it was 8-4 at halftime, when they decided they'd had enough punishment. I had 3 goals; I was spitefully giddy. After practice, came the Art-Kat-Jared Wal-Mart trip, and the silliness thereof, including my squashing of Kat's arm in order to keep her from unlocking her door, and the locking out of Art while he returned the shopping cart. Oh if either I or Kat were confident enough to drive a stick, we could have left him there. Such a shame. Went to bed early. Another tournament, another early morning.
Saturday: Same routine as last week, but we had to wait on Brittany this time. We got up to the tournament location way early. It was deserted except for us. The tournament started out fun, we got stomped, but we don't really train for 3 on 3 or the short game, plus, most of the other teams had been playing together since we were in like middle school. But like I said, it was fun, right up until it started pouring down rain. It was already windy, since it was at a lake park, so the driving rain and the incredible cold was ridiculous. Our team, Erik, Ardis, Brittany, and I, had scored 1, then 2, then 3 goals in our first 3 games. The fourth game was completely in the rain, and we had had to wait quite a while for it. We got shut out. It was so completely unfun. After the tournament, Erik's parents treated us all to Golden Corral, yay for generous notherners! Again, huge props to Erik's parents. The food was pretty good, but all anyone who went to the bathroom could talk about was the handdrier. Apparently, it was pretty powerful. But everytime someone went to the bathroom, the first thing they said when the came back was some comment on the handdrier. Art and I rode back with Anne. I managed to stay awake, that Basler guy didn't. I was reminded yet agian of how much I love Evanescence and how much that CD speaks to me. I was also reminded at how good I am at being annoying. We got back to campus around 5:30. Art, Kat, and I got together later on for some Skip-Bo, in which I had to basically throw the last game in order for someone other than Kat to win. Then, we proceded to Taco Bell, and the new decore that the Dave Lyle restaurant has. Why do we always have to say that Jared won't eat all his tacos? Why do we have to go there? They had a new strategy this time, using those cushy relationship one-liners the whole time we were eating. It may upset some people's stomachs, but not mine. Anyways, we tried to ditch Kat in the restaurant, and I tried, yet again in vain, to get Art to park all the way across the parking lot and make her walk to the car, but Kat has him too well trained. I went to bed early, because frisbee will do that to you.
Sunday: 3 on 3 frisbee, yet again. Marylanders versus everyone else. We led for a while, but then we lost. Matt blamed it on Carrie. It was fun none the less. Then, I went to the second game of the double header against Wake Forest. Man was it windy. I saw a guy hit the ball as hard as I have ever seen in my life, it should have gone like 500 feet, but it went into the wind, and was caught at the warning track. It was crazy. And when the sun went down, it got friggin cold. 70 degrees to 50 degrees in about 30 minutes, psycho.
Monday: Got back my Environmental Ethics midterm. Meeler wrote that my note card was "The best card I have ever seen" and said he "had to stop grading for five minutes because [he] was laughing so hard." Booyah, Mission: Be A Cocky Bastard was accomplished with flying colors.
Tuesday: Just a couple quotes from dinner: In reference to women, "Winthrop University Music Department: Where the odds are good, but the goods are odd." - Patrick. In reference to Benson's fingernails being painted hot pink on Monday, "You know if you let a girl do that to you, she thinks you're gay." - Chasen. Funniest thing I have heard in a long time. Ponds and I were rolling. Benson is really in trouble now.
