A DOOR FOR ALL SEASONS This door was an original idea of a Guild which meets in Minnesota and I loved it so much, I had to make one for myself in 1987. The heart on the door was made of Fimo and silk ribbon in a class taught by Judy Kafka, well known for her Fimo canes & settings. Easter shows a straw hat made at one club & a woven wicker basket of lilacs that I made. Fall is represented with Halloween. I made the witch out of Fimo with a cone shaped body. Ghosts and pumpkins were purchased. I made the Colonial style door wreath and transom decor found in a Williamsburg Christmas book.. .

NURSERY VIGNETTE I bought a set of nursery furniture years ago at a Chicago show and never got around to using it. I acquired two dolls (one by Delores Coles) and cross stitched the alphabet rug just for this room. Assorted toys were made and/or acquired through the years.
DOGGIE PICNIC My adult daughter, Julie, is a dog lover and asked me to make a vignette for her. A dog pound would be too sad...so what to do??? This is a trifle whimsical for me as I don't do whimsy as a rule, but it was the only idea I could come up with, which would include several breeds. I had made a fountain and decided to use that as well. When our children were small, we had a black Dachshound, named Liebchen, so she is represented here. Later, we had a German Shepherd-husky mix, so Bruin has joined the picnic too. Julie has an American Eskimo named, Misty, so she was invited also. My son, John, has had two Doberman pinschers, so one is hiding behind the sign and enjoying a day outdoors. All other breeds were included because they were so cute. Obviously, the dogs have ignored the "Keep Off the Grass" sign.
Golden Wedding Anniversaries Two of my sisters happened to celebrate their Golden Wedding Anniversaries in the same year. I created two almost identical vignettes. The tables I made from ceiling tiles, which allow for the nice draping of fabrics. I made the plants & stands. The pots are made of woven straw. Little silk evening bags hang from one chair in each vignettes. Both sisters were very pleased with them.
Christmas Morning As stated elsewhere, Christmas is my favorite holiday, so this is another rendition of that joyous period. The plaid furniture is from d. Anne Ruff, the fireplace by Braxton Payne, the tree, most of the ornaments and many accessories were made by me. The doll is from Beverly Dahl. To my great surprise, the top photo appeared on the cover of the 1993 Winter issue of the NAME Gazette. I had sent in the photo for possible inclusion in the magazine and was totally shocked to see it on the cover.
Peter Rabbit Vignette This vignette is set up so the book can be removed and read. It fits into wooden grooves. Peter as made for me by Mary Haworth and the veggies by Barbara Cervantes. The stepping stones I made out of egg cartons and the plants out of various materials. My grandaughter, Sara, loved it so much, it is no longer in my personal collection. How could I refuse my biggest fan???
