About the Director:
VANESSA HARRIS, founder/director of Jazz Moves has studied dance in major world centres such as: Montreal; Toronto; London, England, Los Angeles and New York. She has studied with outstanding, internationally reputed teachers including: Eva von Gencsy, Matt Mattox, Jaime Rogers and more. Her vast training includes: Creative Movement/Modern, Ballet, Spanish, Ballroom, Tap, Drama, Alexander Technique, Singing/ Voice Studies. This vast experience enriches and individualizes Vanessa's dance and teaching style in jazz. Her reputation for excellent teaching and her ability to guide students to develop sound technical skills and dance abilities has evolved over many years of teaching in schools such as Grant MacEwan Community College, Concordia College, Edmonton School of Ballet, The University of Alberta credit and non-credit courses, Triangles, Citadel Theatre School, Dramaworks and of course her own school "Jazz Moves".
In addition to teaching, Vanessa has been a performer, a choreographer and co-director of the dance troupe Kompany! for many years. She has coordinated, choreographed and/or performed in various tours across Canada, the U.S., Japan, Switzerland, Greece and Australia. These same talents have been applied to television specials, commercials, rock videos, live original musical revues and productions, choreographed fashion presentations and prestigious workshops as well as many other professional endeavours.
She also currently works as a movement coach and choreographer with dancers, singers, actors, rhythmic gymnasts, figure skaters and synchronized swimmers.
