| Welcome to my website. This information is meant to help people see what my Elsbett conversion looks like and how to do it. I did not follow all of Elsbetts recommendations.
I wanted to put this information out there because there is a limited amount of information on the Elsbett conversions available online. There are clinics in the US regularly but they are hard to come by. I received lots of help from my friend Mario who has done a several conversions and has the same conversion on his 1999 Mercedes E300 Turbo Diesel. I did a Greasecar conversion on my 1992 a year ago so I have some experience but this conversion is totally different. 1996-1999 Mercedes E300 Diesel cars have a lot of fuel systems leaks that many owners attribute to the new USDL fuel so I changed a lot of fuel o-rings when I did the conversion. Plus there are some other recommended things to do while you have your intake off. These are all optional and dont need to be done if you know they were done recently. This conversion was done in three days but could easily be done in less if you choose not to do additional maintenance. The car was purchase in February of 2007 with 148,000 miles on it. The conversion was done in April 2007 The car has 10,000+ Veggie miles on it as of March 2008 Please contact me by email ([email protected]) if you have any questions about the website. Basic of the Kit There are many components to the kit and a couple things you should know about how the kit works. There is also some information on how to order the Elsbett kit, filtering veggie oil, kit cost and how long it will take to convert. It is very important to find a good source of veggie oil before buying the kit. How My Conversion Differs from What Elsbett Recommends I didnt do everything they cover in the manual which means I left out some components. Some things are different based on recommendations from Mario and some are done to reduce complexity. Additional Parts and Tools Needed for the Conversion This list should help you from having to go out to the store a million times but every conversion is different so no guarantees . It also has pictures of the Elsbett Kit components. Instructions for the Conversion This is the step by step procedure for the conversion. The Elsbett manual is very generic so I had to find these procedures online and ask a lot of questions of friends. Additional Car Work There are several common fuel leak problems that will cost a few dollars and a few minutes of time while you have the car apart. If you know they have been done already or you are not worried you can skip this section. Useful Links Elsbett Mercedesshop Viton Oring for your Mercedes Mcmaster Carr |
