Agnost currently supports many types of businesses throughout the island. Farming is of major concern, as the Republic attempts to maintain as much self-sufficiency as possible. A large number of farmers specialize in breeding dairy cows, and the island has become famous for its many cheeses. The island is also home to several small press book publishers, many of whom specialize in various spiritual publications that are sold across the island and overseas.
The island is also home to Met-Tek Manufacturing, a specialist in the manufacturing of automobile parts for several Japanese and Asian companies. Recent financial difficulties have caused the manufacturing firm to scale down its operations on the island, the the company is confident that it will be back to regular production schedules soon. |
