He and his wife Carrie reared a girl, Jessie M. who first came to live with them at the age of 5. In the 1900 Wilbarger County, Texas census she was listed as a boarder. In the 1910 Collingsworth County, Texas she was listed as a foster daughter. The blood relationship between them, if any, is not known. Abner was born at Virginia, in March 1847. He married Ann Caroline Virginia Wingfield at Utica, Seward County, Nebraska, on 6 March 1878.2 Abner William Blain was census 1900 on 9 June 1900 at JP #6, Wilbarger County, Texas.3 Abner died on 17 February 1928 at Arlington, Tarrant County, Texas, at age 80. His body was interred in February 1928 at Tolbert, Wilbarger County, Texas, at Wheatland Cemetery.4
