| Nexus is chock-full of races, and if I sat here and described every one to you, Id be here all day. So, heres a list of the most abundant races. Most other races living in Nexus are mixtures of the basic races, anyway. |
| Dragons
The most dominant race in Nexus is dragons. These creatures have three forms: full dragon, warrior and human. In full dragon form, the creature can have a wingspan of over seventy feet and can be over one hundred feet long, from nosetip to tailbase. Its warrior form is much like an anthropomorphic dragon, only it is shorter and has smaller, useless wings. Human form materializes clothing and armor naturally, however items and weapons do not shift. In human form, this species has no upgrades, but in warrior form, physical rolls get +1 and in dragon form they get +2. Flame and scale must be chosen. Dragons must choose an alignment. Elemental Dragons A fighting breed of dragons that control one element completely. They have one body formthat of the warriorand they are probably the best bodyguards one can buy. Physical rolls have +2, unless equipped. Tribal Dragons These dragons are anthropomorphic, heights ranging from five to twelve feet. They can fly, but rarely need to, as their tribelands remain stationary for centuries. Tribal Dragons hail to their Lords, who in turn hail to the King in Nexus. Scale and flame color must be chosen. White dragons, being rare and few to see, are considered cursed. +2 on physical rolls. Halflings The ill-fated result of a dragon and human (or humanlike creature) mating. A humanlike face and torso, with dragons talons, legs, tail and sometimes horns. +1 on physical rolls. Humans The arrival of this race is believed to be the cause of the unicorns disappearance. They are generally dislikes; a race that is quick to blame, to anger, to kill. They particularly hate the anthros, for unknown reasons. Winged Humans A type of human that is friendlier, more liked than the other. Some still harbor hatred for anthros, but rarely act upon it. They have feathered wings large enough to carry them; legend has it that a city of humans were blessed with the gift of wings and hollow bones by a powerful wizard, though it fails to explain why. +1 on evasion. |
| Half-elves
Not as beautiful as elves, not as stupid as humans. They are better at bows than humans, but significantly less skillful than elves. Half-elves are generally a peaceful race, as their balance in Nexus is a precarious one. Elves Beautiful creatures, humanlike in build, with pointed ears and taller stature. They are wise, for they live almost as long as dragons, and are thought to have a certain bond with the dragons like no other. It is said that it is because of the elf blood in Nexus dragons that allows them to take a humanlike form. Though they certainly are superior to many species, they tend to flaunt it too often. +1 in evade, +2 in attack if using a bow, +1 if using a sword. Hobbits If humans were bad, hobbits are worse. They have little to do with the outside world, and are often forgotten until a rider pulls his horse through a field thought to be empty, and runs into one of their makeshift towns. They are smaller (about as tall as a human 10-year-old), and dont really have any proficiencies in anything, as they are a peaceful folk. Faeries In Nexus, the faeries are a magical folk ranging from four to ten inches in height, with butterfly and sometimes dragonlike wings. They dont attack, or really venture out of their small territory, unless provoked. +2 evade. Lycanthropes Mostly feline and canine in species, this race is superiorly a tribal one. Traditions and tales range from tribe to tribe. They do not use magic. +1 evade rolls, +1 attack unless equipped. In wereform, +3 all physical rolls. Species and tribe must be chosen. Dwarves Not quite as common a race as humans, these small, hairy critters make hobbits look appealing. They are touchy, aggressive, and unkempt, but they are amazing miners and have a way with metals and stones that no other race can match. +1 attack rolls is using a hammer or axe. Centaurs Half human, half horse. They despise magic, though there are a few outcasts that practice the forbidden skills. They are very intelligent, and can think or talk their way out of almost anything. +1 attack. Taurs They are built similar to centaurs, except that the human half is replaced by the anthro of the animal half. They excel in magic and are very strong physically, but arent any smarter than humans. +1 attack. Anthros Anthropomorphic animals. They are almost as common as dragons. They live in cities throughout Nexus, generally keeping together in bands of like species. Their demeanor ranges from anthro to anthro, and they are a rather unpredictable race. |
