Now surely you aren't surprised that I've decided to make a page about my doughboy? ::laughin:: I think it will be interesting to hear from others who are collectors of him and his memorabilia. And I know there are lots of them, they keep outbidding me on ebay!!!
That's my fault, I'm not willing to go all that high with my bidding. Most of my collection has been premiums offered for labels and a small shipping and handling fee. In fact that is how I got started collecting him. Then I purchased a couple sets of salt & pepper shakers, and friends and family began gifting me with doughboy items that they found here and there. Last November I purchased the doughboy teapot, and told myself I was plum crazy, and haven't retracted that thought yet. .....but I do enjoy looking at it.
Hey these aren't Tys, but
I don't care. They are still precious. Mine sits on a stack of
CDs on my desk. He's a cutie. I'm waiting for my "new" giggling beanbag
doughboy to arrive. I keep my "DB chef's hat" at my desk too.
I put it on once in a while. ::grinnin::: Let's see, he's
right here at my desk in keychain form,, and his watch is here in a collector's
tin, oh and the "gigglin" one with his cute little apron keeps me company
while on line also.
I crafted a swing for the 7" vinyl DB with a small piece of wood using twine for the ropes. I had to scoop little dips in the wood for his feet, to keep him from falling off constantly. This swing hangs in the way and occasionally gets knocked down when we make coffee. I don't mind, but somebody here doesn't appreciate him being in the way. He is ALL around the kitchen , everywhere you look, he is there. From plates to several different mugs, mixing bowls, casserole dishes, cookie cutters, spatulas and spoons. Not sure if I could function in the kitchen without "him".
Can you find all the doughboys? There are nine hidden in this pic. Hint: jus' look for the white blobs.. since they don't show up real clear in this scanned picture..
We were going to stencil DBs all around the kitchen this summer where the hen border is at now, but the stencil Joyce made was too big. So I canned that idea. We did stencil it on a couple things, and I still keep looking at the top of the picnic table. But..... there is a new offer out right now and I can get a DB border. Now how timely is that?? I just have to save those labels. ::smiles::
The picture in the blue frame above the stove is a doughboy drawn for me, by my friend's son several years ago. I have two other pictures drawn by nieces I'm going to frame as soon as I get some frames painted blue. The kids get a kick out of seeing their drawings in frames.
Well, with over 90 DB items in my collection I could go on and on with this page, but I'll spare you. I find it hard to believe I have five small albums FULL of his pictures.. wow,, and I collected them all one by one.
Many thanks to my friend Linda in Colorado ,who has made
me several tags with the doughboy on them, as well as some
adorable animated ones. ((((HUGS))))

Gee you've visited all my other pages? Aren't you the gracious one?? I want you to know I really appreciate it. I put a lot of myself into these pages so I'm hoping someone is interested enough to check them out from beginning to end, and here you are.... Unless the title of "My Boy" sparked your curiosity and brought you here before you went to the other pages? And if this is how you arrived here then don't forget to go backand check all the others.
Hey I think you deserve something special. What could I do to show my gratitude? I think I'll finish this page off with a few personal pics. I was going to make another page, a separate one. But do I really need ANOTHER page? I don't think so either,, not right now, anyhow. Sooooo.................
Here goes nothing.
Are you ready?
Okay.
Taking a deep breath here.
I guess this is the place to start.
Wow, I didn't think I'd ever do this.
