Notre Dame Cathedral is probably the most enduring symbol of Paris. Located on an island in the middle of the River Seine, this cathedral is a spectacular example of medieval architecture. Construction began in 1163 and took over 200 years to complete. Throughout its history, additions and repairs have been made but the original look is about the same as it was when first completed over 600 years ago.
