Athens

More about Athens, the capital of Greece - cradle of Western civilization, origin of drama, history, philosophy and a birthplace of democracy, took its name from the Goddess Athena, Greek Goddess of wisdom and knowledge. In Athens wherever you stand, wherever you turn, the city's long and rich history will be alive in front of you.

For thousands of years Acropolis has been the symbol of Athens, which still dominates the city skyline and seems to rise above the human realm. Miraculously after 2,500 years, the Periclean Acropolis and its Parthenon - temple of Athena Parthenos ("Virgin"), is still standing despite the enormous damage it has sustained over the centuries and the ravages of modern pollution which have sent the remaining statues and frescoes inside the Acropolis Museum. To this day it communicates the ideals of order and harmony for which Greek architecture is known.

DelphiLocated about one hundred miles northwest of Athens is one of the most significant ancient archaeological sites dated to the 4th century BC. Santorini

Learn more about Santorini, another of several Greek Islands is very different from all of the others. Its unique beauty has been created as a result of eruptions of now inactive volcano. The landscape is extremely imposing on the western side of the island, where little white houses perch on top of gigantic, steep rocks that plunge abruptly into the sea. In contrast to the sheer cliffs on the west, the coast on the eastern side of the island has endless stretches of black beach with sand and shingle.

On top of its uniqueness, Santorini Island also offers another distinguished archeological site of Akrotiri. An eruption of the volcano in the 16th century B.C. buried the ancient city under cinders and ashes that preserved the ruins with magnificent completeness.

No visit to the island would be complete without a glass of the special local wine flavored with pine pitch in one of the many cozy tavernas on the cliff.
