Awakening the Slumbering Giant

Today I saw hatred
As it unfolded right before my eyes
      The evil in this world
         Rained down from the skies.

There was death and destruction
   Everywhere that I'd look
It was an assault on America's freedom
And America's innocence is what It took.

No longer will We be complacent
Accepting with dignity as each insult is thrown
      From this day forward
         America's resolve will be known

We will not bow to terrorists
Or those who will attempt to destroy Our way of life
      From this moment forward
Our anger will cut just like a knife.

There are those in this world
Who believe America has been cowed
But all I have to say
If our backs are bent, it's only because our heads are bowed.

We are observing a moment of silence
   Of self reflective prayer
But, believe that when we're done
All our wrath will come to bear

We have not been shattered
Nor have we been knocked down
      We have only staggered
But we will stand our ground.

So, to those of you who think
   That your hatred will succeed
I stand here and say to you
Your hatred will not be allowed to breed.

We will fight back
   We will make a stand
      Your act of cowardice today
Is the "line drawn in the sand"

No longer will you be allowed
   To cause pain without recrimination
You have awoke the "Slumbering Giant"
And aroused the anger of a Nation

So enjoy your little triumph
Be confident in your joyous display
Because soon you will reap the Whirlwind
         Known as the U.S.A.
