After we left there was 5 or so minutes during which many knocks and bangs could be heard, some very loud. After this time though, the action really began as it sounded like a crate of empty plastic bottles was being shaken and causing quite a commotion and along with that were more banging sounds. Then you suddenly hear us putting the key into the outside door, at that moment the commotion inside went up a level, getting more frantic. When we could be heard putting the key into the main door though, all noise suddenly stopped and then there was the quiet sound of the place with the only interruption being the sound of us entering through the door and going up the stairs.

That recording is quite spectacular and is one that we've played to many people who have been similarly astonished by the degree of activity in the place when we left and the noise that was made. A further attempt at recording but this time with three of us present asking questions seemingly yielded very little until my sharp-eared partner told me to replay part of the tape. I saved the sound from that area of the tape onto the computer where I removed some of the tape noise and amplified the selected part. After hearing one of the people present ask a question, there is a slight pause and then a quiet voice pronounces "Who is this?". To get the speech to resemble normal words, I had to slow this message down a bit, after which we had a clear voice speaking. Without asking leading questions or giving anything away, we presented that part of the tape to other people asking them what was being said, if anything. They all said the same: that it was a female voice saying "who is this?".
